Omar Minaya

Omar Teodoro Antonio Minaya y Sanchez
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Born: November 10, 1958? 1959? in Dominican Republic

Omar was hired as the Mets' general manager after the conclusion of the 2004 season, after serving in a similar capacity for the last three years of the Montreal Expos' history. Prior to that, he was an assistant to Mets GM Steve Phillips, and prior to that, he worked in the Texas Rangers' system, helping to develop Sammy Sosa and Juan Gonzalez. He made a huge splash almost immediately on the back pages of the NY tabloids by signing Pedro Martinez. Here is what I believe to be the only card ever produced of Omar, from 1981 TCMA.

Update: in 2007, Topps Co-Signers produced a card featuring the autographs of New York general managers Omar and Brian Cashman.  I don't have one.
