Despite his unexceptional batting average, Paul's speed on the
basepaths and patience at the plate made him an impact player. With Dave Orr
absent for much of the 1887 season, Radford slipped ahead of him and nabbed the
Mets' Hitter of the Year award for that campaign. His Old Judge card is
