Mike Bacsik

Michael Joseph Bacsik
Batted: Left
Threw: Left
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 190 lbs.
Born: October 11, 1977 in Dallas, TX
Drafted: 18th round 1996 by the Cleveland Indians
Acquired: traded from the Indians with Danny Peoples and
Roberto Alomar for Matt Lawton, Alex Escobar, Jerrod Riggan, and two players to be named later (Earl Snyder and Billy Traber), December 2001
Departed: as a free agent, October 2003

Mike came to the Mets in the same deal that brought Roberto Alomar (with considerably less fanfare). He made his Met debut in July 2002, making a start in place of disabled Steve Trachsel and earning a victory. By 2004 he had disappeared from the big leagues entirely, and stayed absent for two whole years. Came back in 2007 and was rewarded with the most memorable moment in his career—for Mike, you will recall, is the man who gave up Barry Bonds' all-time record-breaking home run. Shown here is his 1999 Just minor league card, which he has autographed; three other cards appear below.
