Veteran all-bat player the Mets signed in the winter of 2020-21 to
help balance the extreme left-handedness of the New York lineup. His father Carlos also played in the big
leagues for seven years, for the White Sox and Indians and Angels. Jose is shown here on his 2020 Topps
Heritage card. Now, after suffering a
torn meniscus in Spring Training, it appears unlikely that he will ever suit up
for the big-league club.
